Out of all the shops, I loved the design of the Happy Toucan Diner best. It really reflects how Miller Street (and I suppose Santa Lina as a whole) used to be before the decadence, and it just got me really nostalgic thinking about it.

I personally love almost everything about diners: the simple food, the unpretentious decor, the casual ambience, etc. :) I find it really sad how their numbers have gone down over the decades (I watched many shut down around the places I lived), replaced by posh restaurants and chain coffee shops as urban culture became more and more commercial :(

I think you captured the essence of a diner really well, even in the tiniest details. You got the menu and the salt and pepper on the tables, you got the booth seating, you got the blue/white floor tiles. The picture gallery of the 'semi-famous people' was a great touch and reminds me of the diners I used to go to. And Mrs Bradshaw is a total archetype of the diner owner that's so rare nowadays. I'm guessing you like diners too, Arif, am I correct?

I hope the Happy Toucan Diner makes an appearance in future episodes, and especially in the future movie. Another thing I'd love to see added to the online store would be a Happy Toucan Diner menu! :D

(It's my birthday tomorrow and I was just thinking how much has changed over the years...... :| )

 Well yes, I do like diners, but I've never seen one, or stepped into one in my life! :) They're pretty much non-existent in England, except for maybe the occasional American 50's-themed novelty restaurant, but those aren't authentic and I've never set foot in one of those either.
I've been to the USA 3 times but never had the chance to visit an authentic diner which is sad, cos I think they look awesome! I've seen them in so many movies (Back to the Future, etc) and I think they're great places! No noir movie would be complete without either a diner or a nightclub/bar. :)

Next time I come over, I'll make the effort to find one and check it out.

I spent most of my childhood in England (London), and some of the diners I was thinking about were actually the British cafes. I used the term 'diner' to mean any restaurant of that genre, not just American.

I like diners so much that I used to eat at one set up directly inside a construction project (intended for the construction workers) :) Anything to avoid going to Starbucks

I wonder if the Children of the Pyramid Cube had their own diner inside the Taylor Bros Ironworks

It's sad that nightclubs and bars are surviving with no trouble, while diners are being wiped out.....

How about a future mission where Anaksha helps Mrs Bradshaw when gangsters are terrorizing her to sell her place so their boss can buy up the entire street for nightclubs? This kind of crime is also quite widespread and often has the backing of corporations.

Thanks! I'll probably go for a pizza :)

Ah one of those places. Yeah there's still a few floating around here. They're not exactly the healthiest places but they're still popular due to the fact that most people round here love greasy food. I've eaten there a few times, mainly whilst I was at University. We used to call em "Trucker's Cafes".

Oh man I love Starbucks! I guess its just the atmosphere. They make good places for meetings. There's a lot of pretentious types who go there too, but I think its all part of the entertainment. :) So why don't you like Starbucks.

Hmmm.. I guess it all depends on whether or not people are being killed or abused.

Also they are less willing to cook to fit the individual customer's requests. And I'm just not a fan of the style with the sofas and stuff. Booths FTW!

I noticed there hasn't yet been a mission where the victim is an elderly person (especially those without family), but I hear a lot about elderly people being beaten up on the streets and then being threatened with further violence by fellow gang members if they report it to the police. Because the police can only arrest the actual offenders and not their fellow gang members, the victims out of fear of reprisal often don't report at all.

That would be a thrilling mission. Plus - many elderly people are isolated, because everyone they used to know has died.
In my country we have the problem that many old people call the police for no further reason, like "I heard a noise!" or "There are young people hanging around, remove them!". So police has a file on their computer with all the old people who call the police to get some attention - this is the whole mechanism behind all that, they just want someone to talk to. Unfortunately, that is not the job of a policeman. So they look into the file, and if this person has called the police before for "nonsense", this case gets a very low priority.
Problem for the elderly is now: If there´s a real emergency, police won´t arrive quickly enough.
This is a serious problem, but I do not know how to implement this. But speaking about the eldery, I came up with a little rough mission design.

So a little mission design could look like this:
Anaksha has heard that a gang of thugs beats up people in the area between La Madre and San Pietro. So she goes out to look what is going on.
She notices a group of young men standing around in an alley and an elderly woman with a walking frame approaching. Following an intention, she looks out for a firing position and makes herself ready.
Now the plot could twist, depending on where the story occurs:
In a mini adventure Anaksha could approach the scene when the thugs start to molest the woman, hush the gangsters away (with a little help of her trusty .45), making the old woman give her an item she can use (Anaksha would not take money from a poor old lady :) ).
In a sniper game, Anaksha could observe the scenery through her scope. This could be a tricky one: Maybe the young men do not molest the woman, but help her to carry her groceries to her flat upstairs, so the mission would be a failure if you shoot anyone. (This would be kinda fun to see everyone appear in the forum and whine "I can not solve the mission "X"! Every time I shoot the gangsters, but I fail!" )
Or it is business as usual - the thugs follow the lady home, she tries to flee, finds an old phone box, Anaksha helps her with one or two rifle rounds. Then she waits for the police to arrive (she does not want to leave the old woman all alone) and leaves the scene.

What do you think about this?

I like the idea of an old woman being a victim. Its actually something I wrote into the original story, if I remember correctly. I was enraged after reading an article in the paper about an 80 year old old lady whose window was smashed by a teenager, and she was raped by him! What's worse was that it happened in my town, which sickens me even more.
That lady has got a lot of physical bruising because of the assault, and I'm certain she has a lot of mental scars too after that incident. And what do you think happened to that teen? Well you guessed right - he got a smack on the wrist and was told, "Rape is baaaaad. Mmmmkay. You don't rape people cos its baaaaad. Mmmmkay. You don't do bad things, cos they're baaaad. Mmmkay".
